Historical portraits.

I’ve attempted painting portraits over the years and have felt more comfortable with a more cartoonish style, over the course of my oil painting class the past 18 weeks have really sharpened my abilities in ways I couldn’t believe. Here are two Frida studies that really take my breath away. Of the two the one on the left feels more expressive and I feel it has a life of its own. I am looking forward to oil painting more this summer. I have used acrylic paints for a majority of my paint practice but I feel oils is where it’s at for me.
